Sounds like: Tame Impala, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Tennyson
Hello friends and welcome to this week's review and diary entry.
I've struggled with a heaviness for quite some time now. It's perplexed me, rendered me severely horizontal, and at times, mobilized me in sheer fright of its return. These past few days I've been grappling to make sense of it in other terms, and so, I Wish I Was A Punk Band's "Threadcount" has arrived with perfect timing.
Lyrics like "Caught up within mattress gravity / a weight unrelenting" remind me that our struggles are part and parcel of being human, and that none of us are alone in this. "Threadcount" has that quirky indie sound that brings a little light to the listen, while the vulnerability of the content keeps things real.
This all brings to mind the words of Maynard James Keenan, my favorite lyricist:"This body, this body holding meBe my reminder here that I am not alone inThis body, this body holding meFeeling eternal, all this pain is an illusion
Alive!"
