The most recent single from the up and coming socially conscious punk band, Idles, packs a grungy upbeat attitude that just won't quit.
“Mercedes Marxist” with its catchy guitar parts and resentful lyrics is the band's latest addition to their repertoire after releasing “Joy as an Act of Resistance” in 2018. The band is clearly developing their song-writing and arranging abilities as the instrumental dynamics are really highlighted allowing the song to blossom in its own resentful yet positive way.
With a strong melody, the song gradually snowballs, making effective use of the two guitars, yet the track simmers and never quite explodes leaving the listener eager for more. Perhaps the new album will quench our thirst for the inevitable explosion, but for now at least we can only wait in anticipation.
