Why do we like this?

Jaakko Eino Kalevi's single "People in the Centre of the City" is an ode to all that was well and good during the '80s synth pop boom.

The track stands the test of time, making it difficult to decipher whether this was written decades ago or a week ago. That's quite the feat to accomplish given that it's not easy to tastefully depict a genre with so much impact and influence. The dance-filled tempo lays the perfect foundation for the synths to prance atop. The bass bounces about as the percussive shuffling glides along. The horn section is unexpected but perfectly paired with the composition.
