I wish my name was Caroline just so I could feel like this song was all about me. No no, not the song “Caroline” by Anime. This one is totally different and not overplayed at every party.
Jadu Heart uses an easy melody to build their sweet sound. The lead singer’s voice gently echoes as acoustic guitar chords sneak through the alternative song. It adds a softer touch and I love the haziness it creates.
Of course if you listen beyond the melody and guitar riffs, you’ll find the song's deeper meaning. On Twitter, the duo explained the meaning behind the song:
“When I wrote Caroline I thought it was about the struggle of depression. But I’ve since realised that it’s about the consistent programming of men to not connect with their emotions. Caroline is emotion, and men will spend their life running away and not confronting it. Connecting with that emotion, female energy can save a man. Can awaken him and enlighten his life to see the future positively and not put himself through hell without being aware of it.”
And that's what I truly find most beautiful about the tune.
