Why do we like this?

There is no shortage of James Blake floating around the Indie Shuffle archives. We've featured dozens of the London artist's original tracks and remixes over the years.

So I was hesitant to share Navy's remix of Blake's 2011 tune "Measurements." For starters, I'd never heard of Navy before yesterday. Secondly, I believe it's easy for producers to piggyback on a great tune and hide their mediocre talents behind the original work.

I went back and listened to the original "Measurements" over and over, absorbing the minimalist vibes and subtle beauty. Then I looped Navy's remix, and quickly came to appreciate the dope percussion and synths layered into his rework, shifting the original track's soft nature into something a bit edgier.
