Why do we like this?
Ay yi yiiii!! Jens Lekman is kicking it up a few notches with this new spicy track, "An Argument With Myself" taken from his five-track EP due to be released on September 20. I am gobbling this song up in the midst of the unrelenting summer heat. It's a perfect fit for the season!

I actually found myself giggling a few times throughout the song. The lyrics are playful and humorous and reminiscent of childhood banter (such as, "Why are you hitting yourself? Why are you hitting yourself?," as he argues with himself.) Who says a serious musical talent HAS to be serious all the time? Jens is kicking off his shoes and it seems as though he's inviting everyone else to do the same. The song wastes no time presenting a fast latin beat with drums clanking, tambourine shaking, and a deep bass bringing the funk. But wait! Halfway through the song, Mr. Lekman slows it down for a teaser of reggae.

After initially listening to this song three times in a row, I know I'll be anxiously awaiting for September 20th to hear the rest of Jens Lekman's EP An Argument With Myself. If it's anything like this song, then it will be the perfect farewell to a scorching summer!
