Why do we like this?

I was first introduced to Jerry Folk via his "365 Days" remix about two years ago, and without consciously realizing it, his music has been following me ever since. He's got his fingerprints on frequently circulated remixes of Years & Years, Chromeo, and this old school favorite from Baby Bash

The Nordic producer is especially good at taking tracks from a variety of genres and re-contextualizing them into simple, groovy melodies that are guaranteed to embed themselves in your brain. He embodies the idea that less is more. There are no overwhelming bass-drops or unnecessary auditory accessories, just ear pleasing minimalism.

On "You Know," Jerry Folk combines forces with Danish producer ELOQ, who throws some trap ingredients to the musical mix. His influence gives the track a slightly more sinister feel than Folk's typical dance-inducing style, and I'm digging the change of pace. The collaboration features chopped, distorted vocals complimented by hi-hat flourishes and bright chord bursts.

"You Know" is out now on Next Wave Records.
