Earlier this year, famed cult director John Carpenter released his first solo album of non-soundtrack songs, titled Lost Themes. Working with his 30-year-old son Cody, Carpenter creates an album heavy with creeping dread and atmosphere.
Last Friday saw the release of Lost Themes Remixed, which, as the title claims, is the album remixed by electronic artists. One of the highlights is the Zola Jesus' and Dean Hurley's take on "Night."
The Carpenter instrumental recalls his Escape From New York era work, with Hurley adding slight touches to the pulsating synth production and Zola Jesus lending her gothic style to the mix.
