Sydney duo JONES Jnr. is an act with plenty of personality. The project of Evan and Morgan Jones (no relation) is a celebration of old school soul and R&B music brought to a modern audience, and this formula is starting to generate plenty of buzz. Since coming together the last year (both are part of other well-known local acts), they've supported the likes of Bilal and Oddissee, with a tour with Fat Freddy's Drop just about to commence.
They've just released their second album;The Soultape 2is exactly what the name promises, ten tracks packed full of smooth vocals and laid-back rhythms. "I Love the Way" is the standout for me. Perhaps it's those trumpets, those keys, those care-free beats, but whatever it is, I'm playing this one over and over -- and I'm sure it'll have the same effect on you.
