17-year-old JOY, aka Brisbane's Olivia McCarthy, has had her gorgeous debut single "Captured" remixed by fellow Brisbane duo Scholar.
Spritely synths and tampered vocal samples get the song going, and it's clear that this remix has been switched way up to 11. It's faster, it's higher, and it's a whole lot busier.
While the original track championed a mellow, soulful tone, the remix packs in a bangin' groove with a synth-heavy punch. The sensual, roving bass line has been replaced by a deep, heavy-hitting rumble, creating a different atmosphere entirely.
JOY's heavenly vocals are ripe with airy innocence, and the additional loops and layers add a new depth and power. Scholar have given "Captured" a shimmering makeover, ready for late nights and heaving dance floors.
