There are some interesting developments on the way with Rochester's Joywave, set to release their own mixtape entitled 88888 with the help of local Rochester DJ KOPPS. Rather than creating new material, Joywave is focusing on reinventing their previous EP Koda Vista, believing that that no creative project is ever "truly" finished.
"Tongues" is the third single from the mixtape -- it absolutely screams Hot Chip from every part of it. It's definitely my favorite so far because it's a great display of their diversity and adaptability. I mean even the thought of creating a mixtape based off samples from your own EP is quite clever and unique.
"Tongues" is a brilliant little indie pop piece that is coated with layer after layer of bubbly and heavy electronics. Armbruster's silky vocals are a match made in heaven with those big brassy horns and compliments the backing of this track to a tee.
The mixtape is out next Monday, so get excited!
