After a vibrant arrival into the underground electronic scene last year, Kedr Livanskiy has returned to announce the release of her upcoming album and to share its first single, the title track “Ariadna.”
“Ariadna” sounds more approachable than any previous work from Kedr Livanskiy (real name Yana Kedrina). The Moscow producer’s largely experimental sound has been characterized by the use of lo-fi and analog elements that capture romantic nostalgia rather than kitsch. “Ariadna” feels like an artful and successful reworking of these unique musical instincts into more recognizable pop structures.
Ariadna, out September 8, will be Livanskiy’s second release through label 2MR. Her debut EP January Sun was released last year to acclaim, making a name for both herself and for Russia’s blossoming underground electronic scene.
