Flash "Pulp" Gordon
The band with possibly the best Power Rangers villain name has delivered a driving psychedelic rock anthem pulsing with pulpy inspiration.
"Pleura" is a song designed around its multiple levels of inspiration and it doesn't shy away from it for a singular second. The slow-building drum tick starts it off with an immensely anticipative tension. The floaty wizard-like vocals are reminiscent of Norse chanting and the lyrics themselves are a collection of Pulpy references from necromancers to assimilations, it's all in there.
The song isn't high stakes all the time — there are some breaks, from softer moments to actual rhythmic silences. The song is almost at home as an intro to a superhero serial show introducing us to all the characters.
I miss my childhood.
