Why do we like this?
Kutmah, the soft-spoken and exiled pioneer of the beat, is a man of many talents. Since being inhumanely deported by ICE in 2010, the El Aylien as been residing in various nooks of England, turning his misfortune into a blessing and spreading his gospel throughout the European Union.

He can mix a dozen tracks seamlessly in the time it would take you to listen to a full song. He can get down with the pen -- drawing erotic and psychedelic landscapes of women and scenery. He is known for those two, but he is not as known for his own talents behind production equipment.

Recently, Kootz released a compilation on Brownswood Records, Worldwide Family Vol. II, showcasing what he does best -- dig for beats from all crevices of the planet. Also recently, albeit in a much quieter manner, he has been casually uploading collections of his own beats to his Bandcamp page. The tracks are unmixed and raw, showing influences from his contemporaries and proving that Kutmah has his own contributions to the cannon worth acknowledging.

He has some dark shit, but I much prefer his compositions that feel like the first light of dawn. The beat that carries that trait the most to me is "Stoned In Brixton," which we're sharing with you today. Sparse keys with a sloppy kick and a lurching bass line, this is pretty beautiful.
