Why do we like this?

Like most of the excellent artists I discover these days, I found this rapper floating on Soulection’s SoundCloud. What can I say? Joe Kay and crew have a top-notch taste in today's music.

The song’s from Leland Aleem Fakir, a lyrical lizard out of hip-hop's homeland, Los Angeles. Leland's got an incredible flow and choice beats -- zero in on that buoyant horn against the drumbeat. I dig it.

Looking forward to more Leland in the future. His full album is over on Bandcamp, there are a few free downloads off his SoundCloud. If you're hungry for more, another choice song to check would be "MOMMAS HOOPTY."
