Why do we like this?
Back in 2009, Memory Tapes was easily one of my most-listened to artists. I had his album Seek Magic on repeat while I read the somewhat-dark novel 100 Years of Solitude. So, there's clearly some type of emotional association here.
His subsequent releases have gotten a bit more experimental, pushing the boundaries of a unique sound he had forged all his own. Trying to pinpoint or described exactly where he has landed is difficult, save to say that this new song "Neighborhood Watch," the second off his upcoming album Grace/Confusion, is thoroughly dreamy (and growing on me quite quickly).
Dayve Hawk will be releasing the full album on December 4th.
