Why do we like this?
If debut album Home and breakthrough video release "Stereo" announced Mike Mains & the Branches as a force to be reckoned with in the crowded realm of jagged yet sensitive alternative rock, "Everything's Gonna be Alright" reveals that the band has much more up its sleeve stylistically. The song opens with intimate ukulele strumming that sketches out the song's riff lays out a hammock for Mains' delicate falsetto.

In the verse, Mains delivers syncopated, Bruno Mars-esque vocals that segue into a chorus reminiscent of Hayley Williams on Paramore's latest self-titled album (fun fact: former Paramore drummer Zach Farro appears on the band's upcoming album). Mains subtly incorporates reggae and funk stylings into his guitar work, while wife Shannon Mains contributes texture with atmospheric keyboards.

"Everything's Gonna be Alright" is a tastefully eclectic track and ample incentive to check out the band's new album, Calm Down, Everything is Fine.
