Why do we like this?

Who even came up with the piano? Don't Wikipedia just yet, think about it. A contraption that has shaped so many lives. It seems abstract to think that someone actually invented it.

It must have taken ages to develop. Indeed, slowly, over time, but even the guy/girl who came up with it surely didn't know how to play it at first? 

I mean, it takes people absolute yonks to figure out how to play the piano and you're telling me this being invented the thing, sat down and had a 'lil jam session?

I'd say get fucked, but I'm equally as unsure as you so I'm headed to Wikipedia.
