Why do we like this?
LA-based alternative blues/rock band NightOwl’s sound has been compared to The Black Keys with an ear for mimicking some of the great rugged rock bands.
With their recently debuted song “Stripped to the Core” now out, the most-fitting aspiration may be Jim Morrison and the Doors.
Made up of four friends, NightOwl recently converted their largely improvised late-night summer garage sessions into something more packageable, and are now putting the finishing touches on their upcoming EP.
On a whole, the song succeeds like a kind of sonic #TBT, with a faux-grunge reminiscent of the Strokes. Together, “Stripped to the Core” balances a nostalgic feel for rock & roll with digestible lyrics and sound.
