Nils Frahm

Walls

Sounds like: Anne Muller, Olafur Arnalds, A Winged Victory for the Sullen
I don't think it'd be a stretch to say that Nils Frahm (a member of the Erased Tapes family, which we're quite fond of) has been instrumental in bringing contemporary classical back to the mainstream. Real talk: his passionate piano playing brings weight and power to the "contemporary classical" scene. It's fitting, then, that he's kicking off a new holiday to celebrate the instrument that's at the heart of this music. It's called "Piano Day", and it exists to celebrate "the piano and everything around it." "Piano Day" will officially be celebrated on March 29. Mark your calendars. Until then, let's celebrate with this song. (More on the celebrations via their recently launched microsite.)
