Over the past four years covering Australian music for Indie Shuffle, my tastes have changed dramatically. But no matter how this shift continues, there are a number of acts I'll always love, no matter the genre.
Sydney duo Olympic Ayres (Nathan Mifsud and Kamaliza Salamba) is one such act -- I've probably seen them upwards of 7-8 times over the past couple of years.
With recent single "Control" done and dusted (clocking up just shy of 300k SoundCloud streams), the guys have just released a brand new track titled "Say My Name."
As much as I've enjoyed their recent singles, this one ranks as one of my favorite OA tracks. The deep chord progressions, the funky bass lines, and the throbbing guitar all add up perfectly, with Salamba's pulsing vocals topping things off.
"Say My Name" is the third single off their upcoming Leisureplex EP, due out September 18.
