Why do we like this?
The boutique label Petfood first popped on my radar in January with this awesome Forrest remix. Though the track quickly became a staple, the label fell out of mind. Luckily PetFood popped up again today on my feed, dishing out some delicious deep house from a producer named Pete Oak.
Based out of Denmark, Oak was an early music appreciator. Like so many of us, his musical aspirations started in analog, but while dreams of becoming the next Jimi Hendricks swam around his young brain, the universe had other plans for him. Now Pete orbits around the digital world of electronics, but he's managed to retain that warm organic sound. With an impressive catalog of soul, deep house and new disco, Oak's keeping it sultry, sexy, and full of heart.
His latest contribution to dance floor ecstasy: an EP called The Science of Love and I'm already falling for it. While "Love Crime" might be the stand out track, "My Nights" and "The Cheater" are close seconds.
