Melbourne-based producer Planète consistently releases long-form tracks that exist in a liminal space, uniting experimental, ambient and electronic elements into captivating dance music.
“Guided By Flux” is Planète’s first release of 2017, and it’s a track driven by a brisk shuffling beat and entrancing patterns of uneven synths. There are moments when everything is suspended – the beat cycles on a loop, and we are suddenly held captive by a minimalist drum pattern. At the halfway point, a synth unfurls from a shuddering and almost hesitant melody into a haunting siren song.
"The basis behind the track is a resolution of a persuasive circumstance,” Planète says. “I feel that the title leads to bring through a sense of acceptance for a strong positive and negative notion and letting that take course, personally or figuratively. I very much wanted this to drive and be energetic but to also have room to think slowly."
Mixed by Tim Shiel (Gotye, Spirit Level) and mastered by Darren Ziesling (RÜFÜS, Marcus Whale), “Guided By Flux” is a beautiful mosaic of mesmeric rhythms and swelling crescendos, tightly wound with clattering percussive elements.
