Why do we like this?
"Espionage" is the first single from Preoccupation's upcoming album New Material. A firebomb of post-punk riffs and Joy Division-esque percussion, "Espionage" is an enthralling four-and-a-half minutes of music.
Matt Flegel's vocals creep eerily over the pulsating instrumentation as the bass throbs like a dying heartbeat. Flegel has said the new album is;
An ode to depression. To depression and self-sabotage, and looking inward at yourself with extreme hatred.
"Espionage" is another tremendous tune from the Calgary quartet and a return to the in-your-face days of their previous incarnation Viet Cong.
New Material is set for release March 23.
