Why do we like this?
The minute I heard Remy Kay's velvet voice, I was struck. The Diamond Bar native has a presence much older than her years.
Her debut EP, In The Mourning, goes for the jugular via the heart; it's a collection of musical moments made leading up to and after her father's untimely passing. The bittersweet is strong.
LA Weekly deftly described the process of making the EP in a profile of young Kay:
In The Mourning is about a daughter's personal journey of anger, sadness, grief and reflection. It is Remy Kay's tribute to her dad, as well as her own internal dialogue, set to music. In the end, it has allowed her to move on from the loss of the man she still describes as her "best friend."
