Why do we like this?

If there's one thing that makes me instantly weak at the knees, it's a great vibrato. Safe to say that Brooklyn, NYC based singer-songrwiter rum•gold has successfully achieved this with his new track "Where There's Smoke."

The first taste of upcoming debut EP yaRn, "Where There's Smoke" is one half of a double debut from the talented young artist, reminiscent of a mix between James Vincent McMorrow, Moses Sumney, and something entirely unique.

Produced by Soulection-affiliated, Berlin-based artist James Chatburn, the track effortlessly blends acoustic sounds with minimal R&B textures and ethereal vocals that float seamlessly over J.Dilla-esque drums.

The first two singles, “Cashmere Cage” + “Where There’s Smoke" are, in a sense, my first words. It's the first time I'm truly letting people hear me, in the best way I know how. I graduated with a degree in music without having performed my own music once, so this release is both my debut as an artist, and a re-introduction to people who have “known” me for years. yaRn could easily be about queer love, but its more so about self love. It's about living with complexity.

Make sure to keep in touch with rum•gold via Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud.
