Why do we like this?

2016 is coming to an end. There have been innumerable devastating events over the past year — countless bombings, biological and natural disasters, which brought immeasurable pain worldwide. In spite of it all, it is important to look at where your two feet are, and be reminded of the privilege you have to be alive in this era. It may not seem apparent at times, but we have begun chipping away at the iceberg of issues we face today.

We have the internet, which has opened countless doors of opportunity for the world, and given people from oppressed backgrounds a platform for their voice. It has given us a real future that our ancestors couldn't have dreamed of. And when all that isn't enough, there is always going to be music to fall back to.

Songs like this — that pay homage to the natural rhythm of the world — have a way of soothing you when everything seems so damn fucked, and putting a smile on your face at the worst of times. s e s h made this for a family member struggling through some tough times, and unconditional love like that is what we need in the world right now.

This Michigan based artist has plenty more on SoundCloud, so if you're feeling this, head on over and check out the rest.
