Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U (AKUA Cover)

Why do we like this?

Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U" originally covered by Sinéad O'Connor is most definitely one of my favorite songs of all time. It floats off hope, desire, and two forms of nostalgia, making it seemingly more divine now than in 1990.

It's so ingrained in my memory that maybe anyone could cover it (yes, a cover of a cover), and the simple conjuring would do some sort of justice, but I'm very much appreciative that Akua is the one singing here. Her full, angelic inflections form a cloud of warm magic -- a cloud that's pierced by the tinge of raw indietronica.

If this is your first enchanted encounter with Akua, check out the rising vocalist's single "Told You So" and plenty more over on SoundCloud.
