Why do we like this?
With so much  electronic music being produced in Australia at the moment, it's becoming increasingly difficult to wade through it all to find the real gems. Luckily for me, the really good stuff seems to eventually find its way into my headphones, and Perth duo Slumberjack are one of my new favorites. Having only begun working together this year, they've already developed a strong following off the back of a couple of strong singles, with their latest offering their finest to date.

I cannot remember being as pleasantly surprised by a track as I was when I was sent their latest single "Crave the Rain" a couple of days back. Sultry and smooth, the track has a real quality to it, immediately reminding me of  lounge legends Morcheeba -- especially with the addition of the slinky tones of local vocalist Keely Jackson. A supremely polished single, the guys have managed to combine a number of influences (trip-hop, jazz, lounge, and beats) into a truly impressive release.

If you like remixes, you won't be disappointed here, with Slumberjack enlisting the talents of five producers to put together their own takes on the track. It's incredible listening to each one, as they vary considerably -- check them all out for yourself here, all for free download.
