I've been on a bit of a lo-fi house kick lately, which often means that poppier sounds aren't doing it for me. On that count, props to stevedreez, because even though "YOKOHAMA" has a very R&B/pop approach, it managed to win me over.
Come to think of it, approaching this song by saying "it sounds like Toro y Moi" is probably way easier for indie fans to digest. Because once you anchor yourself to that, it becomes clear where one of the core influences behind "YOKOHAMA" actually lies.
