Why do we like this?
Here in D.C., we see indie band after indie band roll through the city rocking their mid-tempo jams to a crowd of generally sterile, head-bobbing music fans.  Not that there's anything wrong with that of course -- those of us who live here are proud to be a mainstay on the tours of up-and-coming indie acts.

It's not often though that a band comes through that can get an entire crowd of people to jump up and down and dance like maniacs for several hours. That's why it's important the world knows about The Bright Light Social Hour: in my opinion the best band to come out of Austin since Ghostland Observatory.

These guys are a crazy rock fusion of Phish, The Black Keys, and Blind Melon. They rock huge mustaches, long hair, even longer guitar solos, and an incredible amount of energy. They rock you into dancing until you're covered in sweat and completely out of breath, as if you've just survived some sort of orgasmic rock hurricane. Even the most apathetic of rockers cannot resist gettin' down to their funky jams.

So if you're into very talented musicians who rock hard but never seem to lose themselves in meandering jam sessions, I seriously suggest you to give these guys a shot. Listen to their album and then go catch them live, because it might not be long before they've completely blown up.
