Why do we like this?
A Glass Ocean
The National reintroduces us to the montage of our lives, the pain, the flashbacks, and the future endeavors, all in an audio home video package.
"Deep End (Paul's In Pieces)" is a splash of cold water into the face of our youth. It's a pulsing, drum-driven track, filled to the brim with sharp narrative excursions, a soft, foamy guitar, and a stormy progression in the distance. The National has a sound only they can produce, and like the captain of their own ocean, they've made the most from the stormiest weather.
"Deep End (Paul's In Pieces)," in my eyes, is required hearing for all of us existential seafarers out there.
