Why do we like this?

My initial reaction to hearing this song was "WTF, mate?" You see, it doesn't sound at all like The Morning Benders that I'm familiar with. And it wasn't titled correctly as  that I'd immediately click that it was a cover of The Strokes. So I had to dig a little deeper...

Turns out that Stereogum has released a tribute album to The Strokes' debut album Is This It. And it's really awesome. There are a number of major hitters on it: Real Estate (today's bonus), Austra and Peter Bjorn & John

. The end result is a collage of covers that the average fan will likely enjoy. I know I did.
