It's been exactly one month since the release of the first single off Tobtok's highly anticipated EP via Kitsuné. It was the exclusive vocal version of "Savanna" that reinforced his reputation as a firm ambassador of the distinctly French sound, and in doing so set the bar pretty high for subsequent releases.
So, having waited far too long for them (forgive the hyperbole!), you can imagine my excitement at being given the opportunity to premiere the second original track here on Indie Shuffle.
"Free" is an easy on the ears, breezy track that will get your foot involuntarily tapping and your head subconsciously weaving with the melody. I think it's the perfect accompaniment to "Savanna" on the EP as it features the delicate, smoky vocals of the mysterious Hoodlem. Successfully delivering two quality collaborations with really unique vocalists, Tobtok is proving he can do no wrong when it comes to producing top notch nu disco.
If you're loving this track and are based in London, an event not to be missed in the new year is the Perfect Havoc Disco (PHd) New Year's party on the January 31 at Shapes warehouse in Hackney Wick, where four of the genre's most exciting artists -- Oliver Nelson, Tobtok, Skogsrå, and Televisor -- will be taking the stage. It's the second night of its kind, and with such a carefully picked roster and lineup, Perfect Havoc Discos are going to quickly become synonymous with high quality, genre defining music and rhapsodic clubbing experiences.
