Tora isn’t afraid to have the hard conversations in her bold single, “Call Your Name.” The 20-year old artist identifies power struggles as a key influence for the song, as well as the constant state of affairs in which our world functions.
In an interview with i-D Magazine, Tora explains, “The song is about the reality behind power - how those without it feel the need to unceasingly prove themselves whilst those with it, use that desire in their favour in order to keep that dynamic constant.”
“Call Your Name” is an anthem in the way it parades into your ears from the very start, to the confrontational stylizing of Tora’s vocals. The overflowing truths and sultry essence of the song convert “Call Your Name” into a ceremonial ushering. Guiding a new era, Tora takes a step toward correcting the imbalance. She acknowledges its presence, but makes her voice more powerful.
