Why do we like this?

Tyler, The Creator and his Odd Future crew have made quite the impression on the music scene in the past year or so. From releasing free albums on their Tumblr to getting a distribution deal with Sony RED, they've come a long way. Their leader's Goblin album was the most tangible representation of their success. Completely produced in-house, the album did a lot to keep the hype around the group and it's frontman going, but did little to further the collective as the musical innovators they were once touted to be. This author has yet to revisit the record since it came out.

Enter Amp Live, the producer of the heralded Bay area hip-hop group Zion I, and Jazz Mafia, a collective of musicians from the Bay. During the past few months the super-collective have joined forces to remix songs off Tyler's Goblin album.

The finest of the batch is probably "Yonkers," young Tyler's most popular song. Somber horns and jazz drumming are added to the ominous piano keys to build momentum in the song. Tyler's cartoonish voice is transformed even more in this remix into a monstrous growl and live strings replace the originals. The soul of the original compositions are not sacrificed, but amplified with the skill and experience of Amp Live and the Jazz Mafia.
