Why do we like this?
Zedd's latest track, available for download on Soundcloud, is taking dubstep to a whole new extreme. I say that mostly because at times this track is wholly made up of sickening bass (and I mean that in the "sick barrel role, bro" terminology).
All throughout, though, this is balanced by a mixture of complex rhythm, 8-bit melody, and slick synth work. Net, net, it results in a pretty experimental track -- nothing short of what I'd expect coming out of Europe.
At just 22 years of age, Zedd has been active since 2002, making a name for himself and his 'Zedd Style,' defined by "complex, intelligently-progressed melodies and high layered, crunchy bass." All of those components are indeed present in this new track -- which might give his peers Deadmau5 and Skrillex a run for their money. After all, he's opened for both -- more content like this might mean they tables could be turned.
