Covers are a dime a dozen these days, and while I post my fair share, it takes that little something something to get me excited. That's exactly what Bent Denim has done.
The duo, comprised of Ben Littlejohn and Dennis Sager, crafts dream pop goodness via email between their respective home bases of Nashville and New Orleans.
Having released their debut EP, Epistolary, back in March, the boys are currently working on their full-length LP, and have found the time to release an EP of covers in the meantime.
We are lucky enough to premiere the first taste of that EP with Bent Denim's take on Angel Olsen's "Unfucktheworld." The original is a heartfelt, lo-fi ballad about the end of a relationship. Bent Denim give the track a dark and almost threatening tone. The added percussion and fuzzy guitars only amplify the heartbreak without taking away from the rawness of Olsen's version.
