October 10 is World Mental Health Day. It's a day when we bring attention to mental health and its effects on people all over the world. In appreciation of this, here is a B-side by Hannah Epperson that was released alongside her single "Shadowless" (which got some mad plays here on IS) on a few vinyls pressed last year. Produced by Stint (who's been getting lots of HypeM love lately) it's a track written about her brother, who suffers from a mental health issue. Here's a little more from Hannah:
"'Brother' is an unguarded response to witnessing the effect that medicalizing, pathologizing and drugging has had on someone - my brother - who has always struggled with conforming to the status quo, who has always been more sensitive and affected by the world around him than most people I know. What I yearn for more than anything is for people to develop a more complex understanding of mental health as Mental Diversity. And this understanding has at its center compassion."
