Why do we like this?
I have a soft spot for drum and bass. I have an even softer spot for female vocalists. Combine the two and you can guarantee I'll be smiling and turning it up a few notches; daydreaming to next summer's festival season where I'll hopefully hear this drop at midnight on a dusty dance floor.
This very recent remix of Koven's "Make It There" was sent to me today by a friend, and not being very familiar with the Prototypes or Koven sound, I wasn't sure what to expect.
I was instantly captivated by the powerful piano intro, stunning vocals, and build-up of effects before the drum and bass drops at around a minute in. From there, it's just pure listening pleasure. Having just listened to an unofficial version of the original track (due for release at the end of September) I can see the appeal for Prototypes to quickly jump onto producing a remix for this tune.
If you're like most of my friends in the Southern Hemisphere with summer approaching, and if you hear this tune drop at a festival before I do, then please know this: I don't want to hear about it.
