Why do we like this?

Is upbeat nostalgia a genre? This song is about the thought of running into the 'one that got away' and being worlds apart. The song should leave me feeling broken. I mean, the lyrics are shattering: "Ghost, I wish you well." "Left my heart with you."

However, the juxtaposition of the upbeat guitar makes this song so interesting to me. It's as if the instrumentals pull you away from the nostalgia. There's a tugging back and forth between the lyrics and the instrumentals. It's quite real in that sense.
