It's hard not to go into this review without mentioning Cape Town's Al Bairre, the band Nic Preen used to sing lead vocals for. Alas, they've called it quits, but the good news is that Nic's easy-going vocal delivery lives on with a new band called The World Of Birds. "Open Up" was written on a beach in Mozambique and aims to capture an easy-going and relaxed approach to opening up about, well, things. The tropical vibe and smooth vocal delivery capture that essence in a sort of Mac Demarco manner, which I reckon quite a few folks will enjoy.
